Everyone knows at least one moment or event
they can't explain.

You're driving toward an intersection, the light is green, and something in you says: wait. You slow down. A car runs the red light right in front of you. You couldn't have known. But something knew.

A thought about someone you haven't seen in months crosses your mind, and they call you that same day. You spot a bird's feather on the ground and a feeling washes over you that you can't quite name. In the middle of an entirely ordinary day, anxiety suddenly grips you, for no reason, until the reason arrives.

Reason calls these moments coincidence. But you sense that something more lies beneath the surface. And most of the time you let them pass, because you have nowhere to note them down and no one who takes them seriously.

For centuries we've called these moments signs. Physicist and microprocessor inventor Federico Faggin offers an explanation for why we take them seriously: consciousness is not a product of the brain, the brain is a receiver. And what the receiver picks up is called a signal. The sign is the envelope. The signal is the letter.

Signal doesn't declare these moments proof.
It takes them seriously: as an invitation to pay attention.

Signal doesn't search for certainty. It searches for meaning.

The world doesn't change.
The observer changes.

Most of the information around us goes unnoticed. The brain filters it out so we can function normally.

But when you start observing your own thoughts, feelings and way of deciding, the quality of your attention begins to change.

That's when some people start noticing things they didn't before. Not because the world changed. But because they started looking at the world around them differently.

"Attention shapes experience.
Meaning is made within the person."

What does the Mirror look like?

This is what a Mirror report looks like: a review of at least five saved signals over time. The sample is fictional and shortened.

Signal assessment

Enough entries

Clear dominant channel

Time span over 14 days

Recurring pattern

Overview of the period

Seven signals were saved over the last five weeks. The period covers 36 days, and the entries are spread fairly evenly, with no long gaps.

Dominant channels

Physical sensation appears four times, sudden feeling twice, coincidence once. The body is therefore the channel through which signals most often speak. This is a possibility, not a conclusion: perhaps for you the body is simply the first place where you notice that something is shifting. The coincidence is a single mention, so nothing can be concluded from it.

Dominant feelings

Pressure recurs four times, curiosity twice, calm once. In three cases pressure goes together with a physical sensation, while curiosity shows up with sudden feelings. Calm appears only once, and then with a coincidence.

Patterns and repetition

The combination of physical sensation and pressure reaches the repetition threshold: it appears three times. All three entries mention the time before a meeting or a reply that someone is waiting for. This is a possible thread, not proof. Repetition alone does not mean that something specific stands behind it.

What this could mean

Perhaps the body reacts before you have decided how you feel about an arrangement. It may also be only a crowded week. The question is whether the pressure appears with arrangements you accept, or with those you are trying to put off.

What to watch going forward

Watch three things: whether the pressure appears before an arrangement or only during it, whether a short pause eases it, and whether the physical sensation also speaks on days without any arrangements.

Journal question

What happens to the pressure when you give yourself five minutes of quiet before an arrangement?

When silence speaks.

Three longer reads on intuition, déjà vu, and how to tell noise from signal.

01

Why intuition speaks through silence

Intuition isn't loud. That's exactly why we overlook it so often. On why quiet responses often say more.

02

Déjà vu through psychology and philosophy

Psychology, philosophy and modern views on consciousness: what is actually happening in that moment of knowing?

03

Noise or signal

How to tell apart fear, desire, ego and inner feeling. A practical guide for the observer.
